Wedding Dress Trends 2013: A Touch of Blush

Blush wedding dresses are on trend for 2013 and you may have seen celebrities like Jessica Biel and Reese Witherspoon wearing these pink gowns. Although many brides think they want an all blush dress many decide that they don’t feel like a bride in a gown that isn’t white.

If you love the look of a blush pink wedding dress but don’t feel like a bride wearing it, then consider an ombre wedding dress that combines white/ivory with a hint of blush pink. This way you get the touch of pink you want without committing to an all pink dress. Plus adding a touch of pink to a white or ivory dress makes the white/ivory stand out more! Here are some of our favorite bridal gowns that include the perfect amount of blush pink!

Keep in mind that if you want a touch of blush on your wedding dress, you do narrow down your choice of dresses since many designers only make a few blush dresses in their collections. If you want a ball gown but can’t find the perfect dress with a touch of blush pink, consider having a pink crinoline under the dress. When you lift your dress when walking down the aisle and dancing guests will catch a glimpse of pink!

Wedding Trends: Chicken Wire

You may be wondering how chicken wire could ever be used at a wedding? I have to admit I was questioning this trend too but just wait until you see some of these amazing ways that chicken wire can be used. Once you look at some of these ideas it should clear any doubt you have. Of course using chicken wire for your wedding decor is not for every bride but if you are having a rustic wedding or casual affair chicken wire may be the perfect decor item for you!

I love the idea of attaching chicken wire to a frame and using it as a holder for the place cards. You can use the same idea and build a large wooden frame with chicken wire attached to make a dramatic and unique backdrop!

Take chicken wire and wrap it around to make a cone. Add some flowers inside and these make simple DIY pew ends for the ceremony.

Ikat Wedding Inspiration

One of the hottest patterns of the year is Ikat! It is no wonder that this awesome pattern is becoming the newest inspiration for weddings. The Ikat pattern is one of my favorite patterns since it typically incorporates a variety of colors. You can use these colors to create the perfect wedding palette.

Choosing the perfect Ikat invitation is a great way to give your guests a glimpse in to the colors and theme of your wedding.

One way to use the Ikat pattern is to choose an Ikat bridesmaid dress! If a dress is to much pattern for you, look at having your girls carry an Ikat purse or shoes. Ikat shoes are also a great way for you as the bride to wear a white traditional wedding dress but also wear Ikat.

My favorite way to use Ikat in a wedding is with the reception table linens. For a bold look use an Ikat floor length linen or for a more subtle look use an Ikat table runner.

Say goodbye to plain white wedding cakes and say hello to brightly colored and patterned cakes! This year brides are including their cake in their color scheme and theme. When designing your wedding cake consider your wedding colors and look at incorporating your color scheme in to the cake. You can choose to make the entire cake one of the wedding colors or just accent the cake with color.

Nautical Wedding Inspiration

A classic wedding theme that is perfect for couples who love for the ocean is a nautical wedding theme. In my opinion it isn’t a nautical wedding without incorporating the color navy. You can choose to use navy as your main wedding color or pair it with another color like yellow, red or even pink!

In designing your nautical themed wedding there are so many elements that you can incorporate. For example, some brides choose to use the anchor throughout the wedding including on the invitations and even the cake.

Wedding Advice: Pregnant Bridesmaids

Lots of things may pop up in the planning of the wedding and one of those things may be a pregnant bridesmaid! As much as you may want everyone to put their lives on hold during your wedding, you have to realize that won’t happen. No need to worry. There are so many bridesmaid dresses out there nowadays that accommodating a pregnant bridesmaid is easier than ever.

First off make sure she is still comfortable being in the wedding. You should have an idea of her due date and can determine how far along she will be. If she is still on board for the wedding, there are just a few things to consider to make your bridesmaid comfortable in your wedding. Never tell a bridesmaid she can no longer be in the wedding since she is pregnant….that’s just not right.

When looking for dresses you don’t have to dress your pregnant bridesmaid in an unflattering dress. Just because she is pregnant doesn’t mean she can’t wear a similar dress and style to the other bridesmaids. Be open to mixing and matching the bridesmaids dresses. Consider choosing the same fabric and color but a few different styles.

Also look at choosing dresses with a fabric that stretches around the belly. You may even want to consider a dress with straps for extra support.

Alterations will be her best friend. Prepare for alterations the week of the wedding so the dress not only fits her correctly but she feels comfortable as well.

You don’t have to throw out those heels just because of one girl. Find a lower heel for your pregnant bridesmaid and keep the other girls in the higher heel if you want. Another great idea is to provide flip flops or flats for all of the girls to wear during the reception. That way they can all kick back and dance the night away in comfort.

Red lips are still on trend for Spring and Summer 2013. A pop of color on the lips, especially red, is a great look. Just make sure to keep the eyes neutral. Another great way to get a pop of color instead of wearing red lips is to try pink!

Eyeliner is all the rage this year! Try a retro look with your liner which goes great with a pop of color on the lips. You can also smudge your eyeliner to give a more smoky eye look paired with a softer lip.
